Trained as a lawyer and historian, I've taught law students since 2005; my specialties are legal writing and the law and history of the Florida Constitution. I taught at the University of Florida Levin College of Law until my 2023 retirement. For the 2023-24 academic year I served as a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Law at Stetson University College of Law, teaching Florida Constitutional Law and Research & Writing. I've authored, co-authored, or contributed to five books, each related in some way to Florida's Constitution and legal history.

I've served as an expert witness on issues of Florida constitutional history and given many presentations to organizations and students on the history of the Florida Constitution. Reportedly, some of them have made people both learn and chuckle.

Oh—and I grow tomatoes.
