Trained as a lawyer and historian, I've taught law students since 2005; my specialties are legal writing, and the law and history of the Florida Constitution. I taught at the University of Florida Levin College of Law until my 2023 retirement. For the 2023-24 academic year I served as a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Law at Stetson University College of Law, teaching Florida Constitutional Law and Research & Writing. I've authored three books, each related in some way to Florida's Constitution and legal history. And they're even fun to read!
I've served as an expert witness on issues of Florida constitutional history. Reportedly, some of my various presentations on the Constitution Revision Commission history and process have made people both learn and chuckle. Just saying.
Oh—and I grow tomatoes.
